Warrior of the Month
Awards and Letters

Student of the Month

This award is given to a student in each mathematics class. The recipient is up to the disgression of the individual teacher. It has been given to students for outstanding achievement, most improved student, attitude, and other reasons as seen by the teacher.
 
Warrior of the Month
This award is given to one student in the entire math department once a month. The students may be selected for many of the same reasons as the student of the month. Each teacher in the department selects one student from all of their classes one time during the year.
 
Math Letter    

Students may receive a letter in Math by doing the following:

1. Earn a qualifying score on either the State Mathematics Exam or the AMC

  • State Math Exam - Sophomores score 80 or higher - Juniors or Seniors score 90 or higher (If there are fewer than three scores that meet the previous criteria, then the top three scorers in each grade will qualify)
  • American Math Competition (AMC) - Sophomores score 68 or higher - Juniors or seniors score 72 or higher. (If there are fewer than three scores that meet the previous criteria, then the top three scorers in each grade will qualify).

2. Be enrolled in a mathematics class when you apply

3. Complete two of the following three options:

  • Mathematics grade point average, 3.8 or higher
  • Juniors or seniors score on mathematics portion of A.C.T. test, 25 or higher. Sophomores score on mathematics portion of PLAN test 21, or higher
  • Complete 10 hours of voluntary mathematics tutoring to non-family members (verification log required).

A person may qualify for an academic letter in mathematics if the person can satisfy the crieria. Interested candidates must submit an application verifying their eligibilty. The deadline will be approximately May 12 of each year.

A student who would like to represent the school for the sterling scholar contest needs to complete application and turn it into Sheri Heiter by November 1.
